Formed on a whim and a Facebook post, Lunar Intruder is: Cam Buyers (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals); Matt Earle (Lead Guitar); Matt Genet (Bass) and Tom Spillane (Drums)
Renowned for their explosive and energetic sets, the Spacemen have firmly stamped their name in the Christchurch Music scene. The band aims to revitalise the local surf-rock scene with a unique, yet familiar, cacophony of Psychedelic Indie Rock sounds.
All music is recorded and mixed at Lunar Headquarters. As such, Lunar Intruder truly defines what it is to be a homegrown NZ band in the 21st century.
The four Spacemen were first catapulted into the Christchurch Music Scene in 2020 when they were awarded First Place at the annual University of Canterbury “Battle of the Bands” competition. This was closely followed by playing on the main stage at UCSA (UC Students Association) Music Festivals: Summer Stein and Tea Party, with each festival averaging 3,000 attendees.
The band has had the fortunate pleasure of sharing the stage with well-known local Kiwi acts such as Mako Road, Dolphin Friendly, There’s A Tuesday, Summer Thieves, The Raddlers, The Butlers, The. Hootź, Kimono and Castaway. Having just completed a headlining national tour, they show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
We are exceptionally proud of how far we’ve come with our music over the past year and are truly just getting started.
